Shipping out Bed Gliders and More From our New Digs
When we first began designing our camping kitchen for the R1T gear tunnel, we didn’t even have a proper workshop—just a makeshift setup in our garage. Matthew had most of the tools he needed, along with two sturdy work tables on heavy-duty casters. But keeping things organized and functional was a real challenge. With no dedicated workspace, cleaning up after each project was time-consuming, and finding the right tool or part often meant digging through cluttered bins.
As we turned our hobby into a business, Matthew got to work building out the garage with custom cabinets, a dedicated computer station, and a set spot for the 3D printer. This made a huge difference, but space was still tight. Working in close quarters led to regular “traffic jams” where we couldn’t help but bump into each other, and every corner of the garage was packed with materials. We even had to stack inventory in a way that made it tricky to get to our bicycles—our “daily drivers.”
Then everything changed when our CNC partner mentioned they were expanding into the warehouse next to their shop and asked if we wanted to share the space. We jumped at the chance! Our new warehouse isn’t just spacious; it’s bright, airy, and filled with natural light from the skylights. The wide-open layout means we now have dedicated areas for parts storage, assembly, and packaging, allowing us to work more efficiently without tripping over each other. Best of all, being right next door to Neal’s CNC has turned collaboration into a regular, natural part of our process. We can refine designs or troubleshoot issues on the spot, right where production happens.
We promised customers that pre-orders of the Bed Gliders would start shipping by November 1st, but we set an earlier target for ourselves. It was challenging—an entirely new product with plenty of details to work out. But having this larger, well-organized workspace made a massive difference. Now, we have plenty of room to work on assembly and packaging simultaneously without feeling cramped or in each other’s way. Thanks to the extra space and efficiency, those early orders are already out in the world, and in the beds of customers’ trucks.
The move into this warehouse marks a new chapter for us—one where we can build more efficiently, collaborate more easily, and fulfill orders faster. It’s a big step forward, and we’re excited to keep pushing boundaries from our new, well-equipped home base.
