Cooking up Adventure

How a Thunderbolt Adventure Supply Camp Kitchen sparked an idea for a children's book

A couple of months ago, we got an email from Rebecca, who ordered a kitchen last November. She was having all kinds of adventures exploring the wilds near where she lives and cooking up delicious meals. She sent us this photo of her making a meal with the blue sky nearly matching the blue of her truck. She also let us know that she had written a children's book about an EV truck who goes camping with his friends.

She sent us a link to where we could order it, and I did—and then I forgot that I had.

Then this week a box arrived with The Adventures of Marvin and Friends At the Valley of Fire. And what a delightful surprise! Reading the book I learned that when Rebecca is not going camping or writing kids books about EV camping, she’s a helicopter pilot in the Air Force stationed near Las Vegas!

My curiosity piqued, I started looking into Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada, and of course, I now have another must-visit destination on my list. Valley of Fire gets its name from the red sandstone outcrops that create stunningly beautiful formations. The park contains slot canyons to explore and petroglyphs to discover.

In the book, the puppies are our guide to the park’s natural wonders, while Marvin, the EV pickup truck, and Vannigan make breakfast on a Camp Kitchen and check out the original ranger station constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corp.

There's even an illustration of Marvin making a meal on the Camp Kitchen. Look familiar? It’s a sweet story, and we’re honored to have been a part of Rebecca’s adventures!

What kinds of adventures has your EV taken you on? We'd love to hear from you!
