Overland Expo Adventures: Decked-Out Trucks, Cool Gear & Even Cooler People

We wish we could attend more events, but with just the two of us and one truck, we can’t be everywhere at once! That’s why we were especially excited to make it to Overland Expo in Costa Mesa—and we’re so glad we did.

We’d never been to the South Beach Theater Rivian Space before, so the Overland Expo Kickoff Party—hosted by Rivian and the SoCal Rivian Clubs—was the perfect way to start the weekend. We also knew our friends at Super Pacific would have their Pop-Up camper top on display, and we couldn’t wait to check it out in person.

Walking up to the space, we got a huge surprise—the camper top was mounted on a truck belonging to our customer, Robert! Even better, he had his V1 Thunderbolt Adventure Supply Camp Kitchen pulled out from his gear tunnel. We’d exchanged emails and chatted with him before, but this was our first time meeting in person. Getting to catch up (and meet his adorable dog!) was one of the highlights of the weekend.

The next morning, Gene and Frank from the local Rivian Clubs set up coffee and bagels at a park near the Expo, making it the perfect spot to reconnect with our community. We saw several familiar faces, including customers who’ve been with us since before we even started shipping product! And Monika and Carl made themselves a full breakfast—frothed milk coffee drinks included—on their Thunderbolt kitchen. Seeing our gear in action never gets old.

Inside the Expo, we spotted some incredible new gear, and we’re hoping to add some of it to the site soon! We also ran into Davy (featured on our homepage with his amazing rig), who was helping out at a friend’s booth. We hadn’t seen him in a while, and it was awesome to catch up.
